Somewhere in the Sun Beach Villa

Jost Van Dyke is a tropical paradise offering a variety of activities and attractions.

A visit to White Bay is a must for those who enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and sipping on a world famous Painkiller cocktail at one of the island’s famous beach bars. Great Harbour is another local hotspot, where you can enjoy local cuisine and vibrant nightlife at places like Foxy’s Bar.

For a unique experience, head to the Bubbly Pool, a natural sea-formed jacuzzi that’s fun for all ages. If you’re up for exploring further, take a day trip to nearby Sandy Cay or Little Jost Van Dyke for secluded beaches and excellent snorkeling opportunities.

      Local Tips:

      • Always try to make reservations. It's a small island and restaurants can be very busy during the season.
      • Always check both their website and Facebook pages. Most local restaurants update their Facebook pages more frequently than their websites.
      • Check the menus. Some restaurants change their menus daily, like Spice, and others change their menu by season.

Things to Do in the Water and on Land

      • Rent a dinghy, kayak, or paddleboard from JVD Scuba and BVI Eco-Tours and explore the island from the water!
      • Arrange for a car from one of the two car rental agencies on island and take a drive over Ridge Road and enjoy the views from both sides of the island! Or... Ridge Road makes for an incredible early morning (but aggressive) hike from the villa over to White Bay.
      • Charter a private catamaran for a beautiful day sail around the BVI or arrange a private motor boat charter for a day trip to the Willy T, a famous floating bar on Norman island, or visit The Baths on Virgin Gorda for a breath taking experience where you will see BVI's nature at its finest.
      • A short hike from the villa is one of BVI's natural beauties- the Bubbly Pool. Grab a bottle of water and head out of the the villa and explore the east end of Jost Van Dyke. You can take a group picture along the way at the Jost Van Dyke Tourism sign handcrafted by local artisans. Next stop is Foxy's Taboo for a refreshing drink or lunch to fuel the return trip back to your home away from home. All of these fun outdoor activities are within a short walk from the villa.

Sunday Sunday Funday on Jost Van Dyke is a great place to be! Hendo's Hideout has a lovely brunch on Sundays starting at 10 am with endless mimosas running well into the afternoon. Monday Mondays are typically quiet days on JVD. After your arrival on Sunday, its a great day to pick up your rental car, make sure your provisions have been delivered as requested, and spend the first day relaxing beside the pool and the private beach with your favorite drink in hand. Take a few minutes to explore the beautiful grounds at Sandy Ground Estate and get to know your surroundings. Later in the day, fire up the grill in the outdoor kitchen and show off your grill-master skills with a dinner at the villa. Watch the sun set on the pool deck and enjoy the beautiful views!
Tuesday Now that you are all settled in, you need a Painkiller! A visit to Soggy Dollar, home of the world famous rum concoction, is the next stop. It offers astonishing beaches, great food and drinks and people watching at its best. If you are a Kenny Chesney fan, a stroll to Ivan's Stress Free Bar is a must, where his song and our villa name "Somewhere in the Sun" received their inspiration. Gertrudes, Coco Locos and Hendo's all have great food and a friendly atmosphere. White Bay All Day!
Wednesday After too many Painkillers on Tuesday, a morning hike to Bubbly Pool might be needed. A short hike from the villa, Bubbly Pool is a natural jacuzzi shaped pool surrounded by big boulders and rushing waters. On your way, take a picture at the JVD tourism sign, and stop for lunch on your way back at Foxy's Taboo. Make friends with the local goats on the way back! Don't worry - they don't bite! Happy hour is always fun with Hermit crab races at Foxy's today. Take your winning crab with you to Ivan's Stress Free Bar's on Wednesday night. A beach party with BBQ and Caribbean music make for a great evening at Ivan's.
Thursday Today is a great day to rent a dinghy from Jost Van Dyke Scuba and explore Sandy Cay, Sandy Spit, and Little Jost Van Dyke. Just a short dinghy ride from our villa, Sandy Spit offers the idyllic Caribbean experience, nothing but white sands and palm trees on a tiny isle directly in front of our villa. Take a moment to enjoy its breathtaking beauty, peaceful solitude and amazing sounds of the Caribbean sea. On to Sandy Cay, for a short trail walk around the island to enjoy this natural gift donated by Laurance Rockefeller to the BVI. Its time for lunch and a game of cornhole at B-Line Beach Bar for great food, cold drinks and a real Caribbean experience!
Friday Get some rest today - enjoy the infinity edge pool, stroll to the beach and get ready to dance the night away at Foxy's. Friday and Saturday nights are Foxy's famous BBQ buffet, followed by music until the wee hours of the morning. Put your dancing shoes on and enjoy an iconic Caribbean location for food, drinks and fun. If your lucky, you might even spot the famous Fox making a special appearance!
Saturday Decisions, decisions, what to do on your last day?? One more day at White bay... Maybe a private charter to the Baths or Willy T... Or a final day of resting, relaxing and soaking up the sun by the pool and beach? What a tough decision! If Foxy's left you wanting more, start with breakfast at Tipsy Shark and finish the evening again at Foxy's. Is it really possible to have too much of a good thing?
